Documenting historic tileworks using smartphone-based photogrammetry

Photogrammetry is a metric technique for indirect measurement through images. This could be applied in recording architectural features and documenting buildings. Therefore, smartphone-based photogrammetry can considered creative method architects conservators to document monuments quickly promptly. The main objective of this paper study the capabilities two case studies terms accuracy precision. Historic tileworks Ḥāfeẓ tomb, Shiraz, Iran, has been as examples traditional decorations Iranian architecture. For purpose, close-range with stereo photography was used. A smartphone camera captured photos. Photogrammetric steps were performed Agisoft Metashape Professional. result 3D models an orthoimage tiles. results acceptable ordinary documentation differed on average 0.45% as-built measures. Orthoimage believed important analyzing studying patterns colors used these works art. emphasized that future public reliable heritages, especially medium small-scale projects.
